In all of us there is a hunger to know our heritage .... to know who we are and where we came from.

Projects

The Beautiful Plains Family History Group has in the past and is continuing to work on projects related to history and genealogy which can provide information of great value to individuals and the larger community. The following is a list of our most recent projects that have been completed or are underway:

Veterans Project
Information has been collected on individuals from the local area who served in World War II, with some information on those who served in World War I. This information includes: life story, picture(s), obituary, cemetery headstone etc. Each individual has their own digital Doc file. This project was done for the Beautiful Plains Museum; the Beautiful Plains Archives will also have a copy, and it will also be of great interest to the local Legion organization. You can contact the Archives Office if you wish to view and/or print information about a particular service member.   Phone: 204-841-0409    Email: bparchive@wcgwave.ca

Glendale Project
The Glendale area is located to the southwest of Neepawa. This project involved redoing the Glendale Memoirs book with modern word processing and better quality digital pictures than the original book which was published several years ago.

Obituary Collection:
For many years now, the weekly obituaries published in the local paper have been photocopied and collected in binders. Please contact one of our co-chairs if you would like to find/view/print obituary information for a friend or family member.

Riverside Cemetery Database This is an ongoing project at the moment. A database has been set up and contains, for each person interred in the cemetery, such information as: name, date of birth, date of death, date of burial, burial location in the cemetery (Lot, Block and Range), headstone inscription, and a photograph of the front and back of the headstone. If you would like to view/print this information for a relative, please contact us through the email link given on these pages.
